The Lincoln Aviator was actually produced from 2002-2005, although only for the 2003-2005 model years.

All Aviators were build at Ford's Hazelwood, Missouri plant on the Ford U1 platform, which was also shared with the Ford Explorer, Ford Sport Trac and Mercury Mountaineer.  All Lincoln Aviators were powered by Ford's 4.6L Modular engine and were available with out without four wheel drive.

The first generation (and only up to this post) was replaced by the Lincoln MKX, even though the MKX is a five-passenger vehicle.

Annual Sales Figures:

2002: 1,856 (2003 model year)

2003: 29,517

2004: 23,644

2005: 1,711

The next-generation Lincoln Aviator will be based on the current Ford Explorer's platform.
